As an Adviser, you will provide face-to-face, telephone and digital information, advice and support to local people on a range of issues (including Benefits, Debt, Housing, Financial Resilience). We are looking for candidates with a background in advice; however, we will consider a trainee for this post. Full training will be provided.
As this is a busy and varied role across a variety of settings and locations, it is essential that you can work independently, be extremely well organised with excellent attention to detail, be flexible, and have a can-do attitude. We want someone who is passionate about giving an effective service to those most in need. This role involves regular travel across multiple locations, some of which may have limited public transport access. Candidates should be able to travel reliably between sites.
Applicants need to be –
- Experienced in an advice agency, or dealing with clients/customers on a one-to-one basis.
- Computer-literate, although training on our case recording systems will be given.
- Confident in working to performance targets.
- Able to show good communication skills, both written and verbal. These are essential in the role, as are excellent customer service skills with a non-judgemental approach.
- Prepared to work independently and from a variety of community-based outreach locations once trained.

Debt Adviser

Citizens Advice Nottinghamshire Central & South are looking for debt advisers to join us on a new project working with clients providing them with advice over the telephone. You will be working with a tight knit team to provide help and a way forward to those most in need. We will provide full training.
If you wish to be considered for this exciting opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills-
- An ability to demonstrate a high level of commitment to training and good understanding/experience of the processes in dealing with advice giving
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines using own initiative
- The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a range of people and organisations
- The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team and work without close supervision
- Ability and willingness to follow agreed procedures
- Ability to work in a sensitive, enabling and non-judgemental way with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
